May 18, 2020 - Customer Memo - Re-Opening/Precautions/Ongoing Appreciation

May 18, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

Once again, we thank you for your resilience, flexibility and support during the crisis we have all been working through together. As you know, out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our customers and associates, we made the difficult decision to close our counters on March 23, 2020. Since then, we have been working diligently digesting the flood of information about COVID-19 and how to safely conduct business. We feel that we are now in a position to welcome customers back into our buildings, while at the same time keeping everyone safe and healthy.

Re-Opening
Beginning Wednesday, May 20, 2020, we will be once again opening our doors and allowing customers back inside our buildings. At the same time, we will be resuming our normal operating hours. We will continue to offer emergency open-up service as necessary.

Special Measures & Precautions
In an effort to continue to help foster the health and safety of our customers and employees, you will see that we have implemented some of the same practices that are commonplace in retail stores. These include:
    Facial covering required to enter
Social distancing of 6’ between people
Limited number of customers allowed inside at one time
Only 1 person per service vehicle allowed inside
    Hand sanitizer available
    Enhanced cleaning protocols

In addition to these measures, we continue to encourage everyone to follow CDC guidelines on hand-washing, not touching your face, cleaning and disinfection, and staying home if sick or symptomatic.

Dockside Touchless Pickup is still available for anyone who would prefer that service. For those who do not have a facial covering, we are happy to provide the first mask. After that, we will provide a mask for a $2.00 contribution to our Needy Families Fund.

For your protections and ours, and as required by federal, state, and local contact tracing recommendations, we will be logging the name and contact information for all non-employees who enter our facilities. Whenever possible, this record will be created through the computer as part of each individual transaction set. Customer interactions that don’t result in a transaction will be logged manually.

Ongoing Appreciation
It continues to be an honor to serve alongside our customers, vendors and fellow associates in an industry so essential to everyday living. Thank you again for your flexibility, patience and understanding! We can, we are, and we will successfully get through this together!

Please do not hesitate to contact the Branch location or your Berkheimer representative for further information or assistance, or should you have any questions.

Best regards. Please stay safe and healthy,

G. W. Berkheimer Co.

April 3, 2020 - Customer Memo - Economic Programs/New Hours/Appreciation

April 3, 2020

Dear Valued Customer:

First of all, we thank you for your resilience, efforts and support during the very interesting and dynamic times we are all enduring together.
We have all entered a time of exceptional challenges due to business disruptions caused by coronavirus (COVID-19). While all are working very hard and doing their best, many businesses will likely be experiencing strenuous times in the short term as they work through this period of difficulty.

Economic Programs
Recognizing the uniqueness of these times, we thought it may be of value to highlight the availability of Small Business Administration (SBA) programs that have been brought to our attention. Many of you may have already received information on some of the programs being offered as a result of recent legislation. These programs are designed specifically to utilize the full and increased capacity of the Small Business Administration (SBA) to assist businesses impacted by the virus.
If any of the programs would be of potential interest, a possible first step would be to visit the SBA website (www.sba.gov), to call the SBA directly, or to contact your bank to see if they are a Preferred SBA Lender having access to those programs (including “express loan” options).
While we have all been very appropriately focused on implementing steps to help ensure the health and safety of our customers, suppliers, employees and families, it may also make sense for businesses to take steps (even if temporary in nature) to help ensure their economic health during this potentially challenging period. While other programs may also be introduced at some point, some of the SBA programs available now may be helpful and timely in that regard.

New Hours
In a continuing effort to manage exposure and help ensure the health and safety of all involved, effective April 4th, hours of operation at each Branch location for Monday through Friday will be changing to 7:30am to 4:00pm. Although closed on Saturdays and Sundays, our Branch locations will continue to offer emergency open-up service as necessary. Please do not hesitate to contact the Branch location or your Berkheimer representative for further information or assistance, or should you have any questions.

Appreciation
It is an honor to serve alongside our customers, vendors and fellow associates in an industry so essential to everyday living. While we must continue to be prepared and able to swiftly adapt to whatever tomorrow may bring, we can and will successfully navigate these times together, and can be confident there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you all again for your flexibility, patience and understanding!

Best regards. Please stay safe and healthy,

G.W. Berkheimer Co., Inc.

March 21, 2020 - Customer Memo - Touch Free Pickup/Delivery

March 21, 2020

The COVID-19 situation is highly complex and continues to evolve each day. The health and safety of our employees and customers is of utmost importance. To ensure their protection, while continuing to do our best to supply our customers with product and services, we continue to follow CDC recommendations and work to anticipate and respond to future needs.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency has issued guidance that HVAC contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers are considered Essential Businesses. In that spirit, Berkheimer is implementing the following additional measures to better protect our customers and employees, while remaining open to take care of you and your customers’ needs.

Effective, Monday, March 23, 2020, we are changing our branch pick-up process at all locations (please check website for specific branch hours or potential closings) until further notice. In an effort to better adhere to the CDC social distancing guidelines, we are implementing Dockside Touch-Free Pickup at all locations that are open. At this time, all branches are open under normal hours. Regularly check with your local Berkheimer representative or the website for most recent information regarding store hours, as circumstances my change.

Since access to counter areas is being temporarily discontinued, all orders will need to be made via www.gwberkheimer.com, phone, or fax. For COD transactions, we strongly encourage paying with a credit card when you place your order. This will better help ensure the health and safety of all involved. When ordering, please indicate when you will be arriving at the branch. Upon arrival, please stay in your vehicle and call the branch to let them know you are there. One of our associates will bring your order out to the dock. Once our associate is back in the branch, you are free to get out of your vehicle and load your order. We anticipate this process being in place through April 7, 2020.

Delivery is also available. However, our delivery drivers have been instructed to follow a Touch-Free Delivery process. We will call before we arrive at your delivery location to let you know we are in route with an ETA. At your location, we will place your order outside the door and call to let you know it has arrived. Under no circumstances are our delivery drivers to enter your facility or have direct contact with you or your employees.

In order to try and insure that we are able to continue to provide service to our customers, we have also split our branch and headquarters teams into 2 squads that will be alternating weeks in the branch or office. Some associates will be working from home. Those whose duties do not allow them to work from home, will be on call to go wherever they may be needed.

As an Essential Business, we are implementing all of the steps we can think of to insure the health and safety of our customers and employees, while continuing to serve your needs.

During these difficult times, we are thankful for the patience and understanding of all our vendors, customers, and employees as we all navigate through uncharted waters.

Please stay safe and healthy,

G.W. Berkheimer Co., Inc.

  • Emphasizing frequent hand-washings using soap and water (preferred method) per CDC guidelines.
  • Providing hand sanitizing stations for associates and customers in work areas (where accessibility to soap and water may be limited).
  • Doing routine cleaning/disinfection of workstations, shared surfaces, and entryways.
  • Employing proper social-distancing (6 feet or more) techniques whenever possible.
